About us...

The Design and Technology Department at The Lammas School has four teaching staff, two technicians and a line manager. The head of department is Mr. Temple. The department offers teaching to years 7, 8 and 9 in four technologies, these include; Resistant Materials, Graphics, Electronics and Food Technology.

At GCSE students can choose Resistant Materials, Graphics and Food Tech as one of their options. If they wish, students can choose Food Tech in one option block along with one of the other two previously mentioned subjects.

The department offers a diverse teaching experience in a set of modern practical areas that are equipped with a variety of different tools and equipment. The school building is managed by The Atkins Group and a picture of the building can be seen below...

So, what is Design and Technology?

Design and Technology is a unique subject that offers a practical experience unlike any other subject and yet it incorporates a great variety of other subjects. Students research, design and manufacture products to a specification, which are then tested and evaluated to see if they meet the design brief. Each of the four Technology subjects offered at The Lammas School work within the design process to provide continuity within the students development.
